Often it is necessary to fashion a muzzle and apply it to an injured or ill animal. Biting is one way an animal can say "Ouch", I hurt! So, before you pick up an animal in need you may wish to tie a shoelace , bandana, shirt sleeve, belt, etc. around an animal's mouth.
Do not apply a muzzle to an animal who is vomiting or has a mouth injury. Be sure the muzzle can be quickly removed by you should vomiting occur.
- Apply pressure to a bleeding wound
- Gently support an injured limb
